Promotions, ponderings, and Picard's personal panic room
We're slightly short of having a crewmember for every deck, but we can now post someone at every shuttlebay, hanger, and transporter room and still have enough left over to form an Away Team!
It seems I have started writing more substantial articles for the Personal Logs, like the obituary for David Warner. I was thinking about unlocking these subscriber-only posts for all readers a certain number of days after the first run, but I can’t work out what would be the appropriate interval to respect the Officers (who, after all, are subsidising this Substack!). But if half a dozen crew reply to this post with what they think is a reasonable delay, I’ll be happy to add timed unlocks to the Personal Logs going forward.

Picard’s Ready room really is the most under-dressed of the season one sets. It gets busier in later seasons, what with the addition of Livingstone the fish and a handful of other trinkets… Honestly if it wasn’t for the gold model of the USS Stargazer, this would be a very boring office space. That said, it is rather cool that it’s right next door to the bridge. It’s basically Picard’s panic room, or at least somewhere he can go to hide from Wesley when he’s most annoying!
Promotions
There wasn’t a promotion last month, so we’re owed two…
For keeping the hailing frequencies open, I am pleased to issue a Field Commission to Scott Gibbens, who is forthwith promoted to the rank of Ensign. Congratulations, Ensign Gibbens! Your contributions to the ship are appreciated.
Additionally, the aforementioned Will Stape has been such an invaluable asset, that he also deserves a commission. But as a former writer on TNG, I feel his prior Starfleet experience deserves at least the rank of Lieutenant JG (Junior Grade)! Don’t forget to check out Lieutenant Stape’s Substack as well!
And to those of you still exercising the benefits of your personal cloaking device… please, carry on!
