15. Talarian warship
6 episodes: “Suddenly Human”, “Unification Part I", “Unification Part II”, “Conundrum”, “The Perfect Mate”, “Force of Nature”
Making their dramatic debut in “Suddenly Human”, the Talarian Warship studio miniature reappears many times in TNG, each time undergoing a transformation. In “Unification”, they remove the ‘x wings’ entirely, while in “Conundrum” they put a pair back as a pair of ventral fins underneath, before going back to the original stock footage for “The Perfect Mate” and “Force of Nature”.
The only behind-the-scenes picture of the model I can find is in its final form as the Drayan shuttle from the Voyager episode “Innocence”, by which point I’m afraid the model has lost pretty much all of its majesty.
The original model was a Rick Sternbach design, created at the same time as the similar looking Talarian Observation craft that we encountered back at #31.
