It is hard to believe that it was a year ago today that we set off on this voyage of (re)discovery. Even harder to believe there will be just two more birthdays to come before we approach the edge of the TNG galaxy at the end of season seven. My infinite thanks to everyone who has joined us on this journey, and especially to the Away Team for subsidising our adventure. Apologies for a shortage of Personal Logs recently - I’ve been moving internationally, which is never as simple as stepping into the transporter. However, I have several planned for the months ahead - see below for foreshadowing.
Let’s boldly continue to go where we’ve all been before!

Top 40 TNG Studio Miniatures
At the end of this month, I’m introducing a new feature for the Away Team (i.e. paid subscribers) - Countdowns. These are in addition to the regular Crew Profiles and intermittent Personal Logs, and will be quick to read but full of TNG production lore and behind-the-scenes pictures. The first countdown will be Top 40 Studio Miniatures, counting down the most frequently appearing spaceship models from rarest to most commonly seen. It’s a chance to revel in beautiful miniatures like this!
Here are the rules:
The number of episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation featuring the studio miniature (or stock footage of the model) are what counts.
It doesn’t matter how much the SFX team modified the model, it still counts as the ‘same model’ for the countdown.
Excluded from the count are:
(a) shots where the model appears as a model (e.g. the Stargazer model on the Enterprise-D doesn’t count), and
(b) the opening credits (and yes, this does make a difference!).“All Good Things” counts as 2 episodes.
In the event of a tie in number of appearances, the earliest appearance wins.
The countdown commences on the last Friday in June with #36-40. Want to play along? Here’s an exclusive First Birthday Offer that’s good until July.
What’s the number one studio miniature…? You’ll have to wait and see, but the Enterprise-D is at #2, so it might not be what you expect!

It gives me great pleasure to promote Jess H to Lieutenant Junior Grade. Many thanks for your continued support in liking the WAMs - it all helps keep up morale on the bridge! Your imaginary extra pip has already been beamed onto your collar.
We definitely could use some more Ensigns, so please leave a brief comment to celebrate our first year together!
