I'm pretty sure they did not air this episode when I was watching the original run. Or at least, it must have been heavily edited. I didn't recognize any part of it and was shocked! It's very much like Fright Night level horror. I was very young when I watched this series but I'm pretty sure I would remember a yucky stop motion earwig going into somebody's mouth. Maybe this episode was aired later than I was allowed to stay up?
My understanding is that this WAS shown on networks in the US. In Canada, it aired with a viewer discretion warning. In the UK, the BBC initially wouldn't show it, then later cut a couple of minutes from it (mostly: melting Remmick down to his skeleton!). If you'd seen this as a kid, I have to think you'd remember it! 😂
Wow, love the concept art and behind the scenes details in this one! I always liked Conspiracy, but I don’t think I ever appreciated just how much of a tonal and stylistic outlier it was in the series.
I do owe a debt of thanks to the folks on the Trek BBS for their assistance, but it really was a pleasure putting this WAM together. Thanks for sharing the love! 🧡

Quite honestly John Carpenters TNG is what I am here for!
Alas, they didn't make another episode quite like this! But there are some freaky moments in the later seasons too.
