Though it's Janeway fighting giant virus bugs not terrorists, I wonder if Voyager got inspired for 'MACROCOSM from this - Janeway runs about like a 'Jane McClane' complete in undershirt - etc.
David Spielberg truly is the star! I never tire of his & Data's scenes. Woulda been fun to have brought him back in some way - lol
"Macrocosm" is a Brannon Braga episode, isn't it... I have some recollection of him saying that he wanted to try and write an episode without any dialogue in it, but that this concept didn't work out in practice! 😂
Glad you're as big a fan of Spielberg in this episode as I am! Unfortunately (as with Carolyn Seymour's Romulan subcommander in "Contagion") since the writing team decided these characters were dead (even though on-screen it remains ambiguous), we could never see them again. Such a shame!
Yeah, Spielberg had such a long & varied career in so much TV & film. I even recall him as Ann Romano's boyfriend in the classic sitcom, 'One Day At A Time', opposite Bonnie Franklin - a real dependable and enjoyable actor.
