Despite Okona's sexual aggressiveness, which may make even Starlfeet's legendary Lothario himself, JT Kirk blush, Billy Campbell really aces a nice consolation prize for losing out on Riker.
Two points on that. First, it's not just TNG, it's all of it except maybe Enterprise. Prodigy has a hologram of Janeway as a regular member of its cast, for instance. Second, I don't know if "recycling" is always the right word. Sometimes it's recycling, sometimes it's further development. Your mileage may vary.
'Recycling' was meant in jest, i.e. pulling the material out of the back catalogue and deploying it again (in any context). It really doesn't matter to me how they're using it, it's all 'recycling' in this sense. 🙂
And you're quite right, of course, about it coming from the later shows as well. But this is a TNG blog, so I keep my focus on that. 😉
Okona showed up in Star Trek: Prodigy recently, and he was a fun character but I didn't remember this episode so I thought he was original to that show. I'm curious now to rewatch this and see where the character came from.
Ah, Jordan Collier. The reason to watch The 4400. His character in that was so much fun, he really hammed it up much like here.
There's an art to overacting that I can only admire! 😂

Another great write-up, Chris!
Thanks, Will! I appreciate the encouragement. Hope all is well with you and yours!

They sure are recycling all the TNG material in the new shows, aren't they. 😂
